Gyoas759
I've been getting a jumpy tach lately along with some hesitation in my 83GL. It has a carbed EA82 in it. Went to the junk yard a few weeks ago and unknowingly got a fuel injected model distributor. So back again today and found a nice carbed GL but couldn't get the darn distributor out. Undid both bolts, and even pried with a tire iron etc. It will move back and forth but wont come out. Found another car with the same result. Had to go home without one. On the FI model and previous EA81 distributors they pop out easily. What am I missing with these?
GeneralDisorder
That's how they come out - should just pull straight up. There's no trick to them. The one's you encountered must just be stuck with oil varnish. GD
hooziewhatsit
Nothing missing, just gently hit it harder I've had to use a wonder bar to get one out. I was surprised how hard it was stuck. -Dave
MilesFox
the rubber o-ring hardens up and sort of locks it in place. be sure to replace the o-ring if its bad enough. but other thwn that, it just pops straight out
Skip
squirt some PB Blaster around the section going into the block as you rotate it back and forth. Pulling up at the same time. If it moves up a little squirt some more and push it back down. repeat. They can be a pain.
