My own Holy Grail "Found"

Recommended Posts

So i decided to head over to the Junk Yard and see if there is anything new since the last time i went about 3 weeks ago.

Browsing around the same old Suby section i see a pearly white car staring at me.

A complete 88 XT6 4WD 5 speed

Ive finally found all the 5 lug parts ive been searching for.And they only cost me $57 and change.

Picked up the rear Hubs, backing plates, rotors,Front and rear sways and front controls arms

Took me about 6 hours to pull everything but its all mine

Now to just get some wheels and a few misc parts and install all the goodies.

I am so happy to find this as i know how hard they are to find anymore.

Just thought i would share :)

i am really tempted to get the swap bits from the yard i go to, but they tend to be pricey :(

considering how rare they're getting, I'm sure whatever the price the yard is asking, you could get and some extra for your time from a fellow board member.

what are you doing for front struts and hubs?

congrats on the find! it took me a year to find my donor..

Ive got Impreza Front Hubs, rotors and calipers. Just trying to decide on a set of struts.

Theres a 90 Legacy 2wd with KYB GR2s on the front.I was thinking about grabbing those to use on the front.

I still need Impreza front axles and XT6 tie rod ends but ill get those when i have more $$$

were the seats any good? that's another upgrade that's pretty popular and hard to come by. Listen to Skip and get the transmission/linkage and the flywheel & clutch too, all are pretty cool to have or to trade with.

The seats are decent but are brown in color.

Ill have to go back and grab the linkage.

The clutch and flywheel i thought about but too much work to get to them.Didnt feel like laying in the dirt trying to get it out by myself

Nice find!!

Is that the AWD tranny with the center diff lock?

It might be a nice score also?

(might grab the rear diff also- you might get lucky?)

The flywheel is also lighter.

Yeah the trans has the Diff lock,as i was playing with the button in the console.

Is there anything special about the rear diff other than being 3.9??

+ a bajillion on the center locking AWD tranny, if only it were D/R

I think he was implying that it might be an LSD. Even if you don't use it, a 3.9:1 R-160 LSD can be sold to 510 guys on ebay for 2-300 bucks

I cleaned the tag to see and there was Not LSD on the diff tag.

Did the XT6 have a LSD but not put it on the tag?

How much are the Trannies worth also?

the XT6s had an option for a 3.9 LSD. and was printed on the tag. so if it's got a tag and it doesn't say LSD, it's probably not one.

they were pretty rare. the cool thing about the XT6 LSD, is it's already 3.9, so it's ready to drop into any other N/A EA82.
