Need Quick help with my Tranny!

Recommended Posts

Should be 3.9.

What kind of tranny do you have in your loyale now? It will bolt right up. As long as you've had a manual tranny in there before. If it's an automatic you'll need the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, clutch pedal/cable.

As for shifting components..,.they are all bolt on, you don't need to cut or modify anything.

If you have an automatic you're rear diff will be 3.7 and needs to be changed out.

And you'll need the center console, just the part that the shifter boot is attached to, and the d/r shift lever.

Sweet man i thought i would have to change out my rear Diff to a 3.7 to match it. I have the manual 5spd push button and hate it. I want some Low range fun! I will go pick it up today if thats the case

everything will match up the same. 3.9 hear and 23 spline axle.

get the trans and the shifter. te crossmember, flywheel, clutch and driveshaft fiththe same.

if you are lucky to find a full time rx tranny, the old 4wd shifter button will work the diff lock, but you would need a 3.7 diff and 25 spline axles to swap an rx tranny.

save the solenoids and the vac assembly for the pushbutton for later use, to fix another car, or to sell to someone who cant find the part

The 85 will not have the neutral switch for the SPFI. This will result in a CEL if you don't rewire the switch to something like a cruise control "bolt" switch on the pedal. You could also swap to the 87 to 89 "black" ECU and then wire the neutral switch pin to the Loyale's existing clutch switch.

All the light switches (backup, 4WD, etc) will need to be rewired as the connectors are wrong on the 85.

Mechanically it will bolt up. Use an XT6 clutch if you want better performance.
