Pebbles
HI there. Got a mate here thats interested in converting his EA71 fwd to E81 4wd. Has anyone done this before and what is involved in changing the rear suspension and mounting the rear diff?
GeneralDisorder
It's too much work - just find one that's 4WD. Trust me - I've done it. If you still want to know, do a search using my username - I've outlined the procedure. It's best to have a whole donor car. GD
Pebbles
Yep still interested in doing it. He got a very clean Ea71. Almost no rust at all. I have two complete EA81 drive lines and he has a 180hp Ea81.
GeneralDisorder
he has a 180hp Ea81. Then he should know enough to figure it out. And he should also know that neither of your drivetrains will handle that kind of power. GD
Pebbles
LoL. We are mainly dooing it for ************'s and Giggle's:banana: . I've made him fully aware how long the standard Ea drive line will last but he will have to learn the hard way. He is a bit of a tight A@#%. GeneralDisorder
Again - use the search. I've covered it before and I'm not willing to cover it again.... so unless you get ahold of one of the other half-dozen or so folks that have actually done this swap I sugest you learn to use the search. Hondasucks
Youll need a 4WD gas tank, rear suspension, trans, etc.. it all pretty much bolts in. The only thing I had to weld in was the 2WD cars don't have the mounting bracket for the 4WD shifter, but it's relatively simple to cut it out of the donor car and weld it into the proper place in the car you are converting. That was really the only part that was a PITA, that and the fuel tank since it has like 12 lines going to the top of it.
