3Pin
Will this have the 2.2 or the 2.5? Does anyone know. It is not the GT version, just a regular 4 door sedan.
GLCraig
it's most likely a 2.2. Look under the power steering pump and you will see the casting mark of either EJ22 or EJ25. An EJ22 is a 2.2 and an EJ25 is a 2.5.
Suzam
The GT and LSi were the only model of MY96 Legacy with the 2.5 all the others have the 2.2, you can also check under the hood for a sticker that will tell you engine size.

3Pin
Does anybody know if I can transplant the 96 2.2 into a 95 legacy easily?
johnceggleston
Does anybody know if I can transplant the 96 2.2 into a 95 legacy easily? yes, easy. but you'll need the y-pipe of the exhaust that matches the 'new' engine. one year has dual port exhaust, one year has single port. idosubaru
Does anybody know if I can transplant the 96 2.2 into a 95 legacy easily? what is the 95 legacy - manual or automatic? a 95 manual trans vehicle won't have an EGR set up with it so you'll have to block the EGR stuff off of the 96 2.2. idosubaru
copy that - the blocks w/o intake manifold will interchange no problem!
