SubaruJawn Posted February 25, 2008 Share Posted February 25, 2008 Before i attempt it i'd like to know how hard it would be to put in a XT engine with the multiport F.I in to a Loyale ? is as easy as changing the engine or is their some modification needed ? if so what mods ? idosubaru Posted February 25, 2008 Share Posted February 25, 2008 yeah john i don't think this is a good fit. it is a huge job for you and something you've never done before. even more importantly it would be a ton of effort for hardly any increases. it would a little bit but it would still be waaay slower than your XT6 which you're not satisfied with. so - lots of hours of work, very little increase and way slower than a car you already have and aren't satisfied with - doesn't sound like a good fit. what you would need to do if you were really serious about this is to compare the wiring harnesses. i wouldn't be surprised if the MPFI and SPFI were fairly close and the ECU's probably have the similar connectors. if that's the case you might be able to repin the existing connectors?? if you want something fast, don't try to start with something slow, that just doesn't make sense. it's like going to the plumber when you're having a heart attack. in your position it is better to not try to go fast at all. Actually, none of that stuff is the same. Plus, if he used a Spider intake XT motor(only one worth it) that would add even more complexity. Wait, actually the TPS plug for the SPFI has four pins, like a spider intake (87 1/2+)XT. Ok, so 1 thing. Best bet for that conversion is to get the harness from a 87+ Turbo GL or GL-10 It's an MPFI harness that will fit into the Loyale easily. Or find a rare 85 non-turbo 2wd GL-10 with MPFI. idosubaru Posted February 25, 2008 Share Posted February 25, 2008 Actually, none of that stuff is the same. gotcha, i'll edit that so as not to confuse anyone. i meant to say the wiring might be the same - like the connectors at the ECU might use the same wires - so swap ECU then make the harness fit? no matter, it's a bad idea any way around.
