My Day!! Warning Carter Subaru

Recommended Posts

Sit down your gonna need some

I woke up this morning and made an Early morning run to Pap, And then went to CarQuest for an Alternator, for my xt6, I install it, and get back on the road.. I run up to Carter Subaru to Get my Radiator that I ordered 13 days ago because the first one that I got was defective. The sold it to me Wholesale because I work for another dealership. I originaly purchased it for $307 $335.00 (after tax) on the first trip. on the second trip up I returned it, (same Day) instead of refunding my card she voided the transaction so the money was tied up for 10 days. -- 3rd trip today The wonderful lady behind the counter said the price went up to $398 $429 after tax -- so I argued a little bit and she said that the price was set. I saw the invoice and saw that she charged me retail price. and I questioned it. she said that she gave me wholesale. (now I was quoted $398 List when I originaly purchased it.) so I said your not gonna honor the price I originaly paid for it. she said the price went up in shipping... (I again argued and a service advisor came up and told me to calm down or he would call the cops.) I have a very loud voice in general so he was assuming that I was yelling. I then asked for a manager, The said that there was no Manager there on sunday... so I told them to call someone they said there was nobody so I asked for the managers number and they wouldn't give it to me. (I started to make a scene because There were tons of customers in the lobby one actually walked out)

I finally said that I would take my business elseware, Make a complaint to SOA and file a complaint with the BBB - (as well as post on the board) and they said that they didn't fu**in Care. (exact words)

(I went to the front desk who heard the entire thing and she told me sorry and gave me the managers business card. I'm gonna ask them for some sort of recovery of my gas money!!)

Now to top my day off As I pull out of Carter subaru My Idiot lights come on!! so I pull off into an autoparts store and yank it, so I call a friend and he hits up carquest to get another one for me- the guy at carquest double bills my card. but I get the alternator in and its working except when I dry steer the voltage drops but hey its ok...

My Day in a nut shell I learned two things. Stay Away from Carter subaru and Pay Cash for all of your parts!!

that sucks dude :dead: i hate when i get some moron/jerk in a customer service atmosphere, i don't like to go into asscap mode, but sometimes . . .

going to the dealership on a sunday is always gonna be an experience (monday too) because as you know from being in the business, everybody who counts takes sunday/monday off :-\

unfortunatly, once you "protest" past a certain level, "we don't f'ing care" is usually the answer i get . . .

I suppose you didnt do a search or research anything about Carter? You could even asked Russ about them. Could have asked here even before going. Its common knowledge to most of the Subaru community in Puget Sound that they suck badly.

And per XT6.net, how do you know that the rad you ordered was for a XT6? Its a good thing you didnt get it. Try returning that to them.

There is a lady behind the counter there that I love she has helped me out quite a bit. She helped me find a lot of older subaru parts that no one else would. (I only knew about walkers at the time.)

Well, I have spent all this week trying to get ahold of a manager at Carters.. I have not been able to. so I called SOA, And they called the parts department, and they called me back saying the Dealership Refused to sell me the radiator.. because I Yelled and cussed at the counter person. I did not do either. SOA told me to call Scot the manager at parts department. He told me that he wouldn't sell it to me even if I gave him $1000, I tried to explain the situation but he told me not to even bother so I went to walkers and they ordered it and offered me a better deal on the original price of the radiator! They also Basically said that they don't want my business, no matter what it was!

Anyhow... Carter Has lost my business, and if anyone has a NASIOC account if they can post a link to this post, that would be much apprieciated.

Scott even told me that he was also mad that I posted this on the boards (because I told SOA about it) I think that I'm going to write a letter to the owner of the dealership, and to SOA about the situation--

anyone else want to help me with this situation??

Only if I was a witness. Otherwise your on your own.

Personally, I would count my blessings and walk away from it. They have been getting bad press for a couple of years now. If they cant figure out why people get pissed off when dealing with them, they need to fire everyone that works in a managerial position there.

Dude that totally sucks. I try to avoid the dealers whenever possible and order through and online source. I bought my Subaru new and after 40K miles the cheap lastic radiator blew out. I went to a third party radiator place and asked for one that was not cheap plastic and they sold me an all metal one that fit my car but was for a Legacy I think.

We should all send an email to Carter Subaru letting them know we know how they treat customers. There is a rule that a disgruntled customer will tell ten others. I usually try to tell at least 100.
