[HTi]Johnson
I take it, that this is the turbo wagon you have on your info? If so, you have to locate the green connectors and connect them, they should be in the engine bay (by the driver's side firewal) or under the steering column by the ECU. There's going to be a couple of other connectors that look like they should be connected, no. Leave them disconnected. Now that the green connectors are connected, hook your timing light up and put the inductor on the #1 spark plug, it's the plug that's in the front passenger side of the engine, front being the radiator. Loosen the distributor hold down bolts (should be one or two with 10mm heads), start the car, let it warm up if it's not. Remove the flywheel cover (if there is one), time it at 20 degrees BTDC. If you can't see the 20 mark, turn the car off and rotate the engine until you see the marks and put a paint mark on the 20 or something that you can see. slideshow86
I have the same car, just a little older. If you look in my profile for threads I have started you will find a few things about timing these cars. I have heard a few different ways to do it. My final way of doing it was not with the green test connectors connected. It was with the vac advance dissconnected and the 7 or 9 pin round connector ( that goes to your knock sensor and vac advance) under the maf, dissconnected. This gave me correct time.
