good manual for a loyale? or exploded diagrams?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone could recmmend a better repair manual than the Haines manual. (I have a 91 loyale)

I find that it lacks instructions for a bunch of stuff.

any exploded diagrams online anywhere?

I have both, (Haines and Chilton) So Chilton is alot better for exploded diagrams and the info is more complete. Look for the one that's for any Subaru from 1980 to 1996. It has a red OBW on the cover. Other then that the 1989 EA82 FSM's are you're best bet. I only have few on CD-R that I got from a member. If you were to buy the whole set, thats like $130 bucks:eek:

Anyhoo the Chilton should be good enough for what ever you need. Works for me.:)

That is a factory service manual for the engine in your car. There isn't any better manual than that. Even though the year is different the manual will be very close to your car's model year. The manuals for the car came in a set of 4 during that time. The most used manuals are #2 for the engine and #4 for the electrical wiring.

You should be able to get a set of these manuals on Ebay for around $30 dollars. I paid about 100 dollars for my set when I purchased a new '88 GL 10. Over the years they more than paid for themselves in time and money saved in repairs and information.

Hey, thanks for the help dudes.

I'll keep an eye on ebay for those FSM, and will order a CHILTON while I wait.

speaking of CHILTONS, found the two different Chiltons that cover my year and model (I am the proud owner of a 91 loyale) the "loyale etc 1985-92", and the "loyale etc 85-96" one...any idea if one is better than the other?

They prolly both cover the same for the Loyale/EA82 vehicles. Just that one would cover the Subarus up 96. I would just get the 1985 to 96 one, Thats what I have.

Good luck bro!

PS: Post a pic(s) in the "Show off you're Soob" thread in Off topic!:)

There are 6 sections to the Subaru FSM's. Section #6 is electrical wiring. Section #4 is suspension, brakes, and steering.

Depending on the year however, some of the sections are physically in the same book. In 89 it's just 2 books. sec 1,2,3 are one book, 4,5,6 is a second book. Other year FSM are available too, although I think 90 is the last year for the Loyale FSM, and is used for the rest of production til 94.

Hey Gloyale,

Do you think the dealer would still carry them? Like the one for 89'..

And Mariposa, You should check out the Book "How to keep you're Subaru alive" It's not really a repair book like a Chilton, But it's just some good to read. Some parts are funny and informational! I have it on a CD-R so if you want a copy I could figure out how to send it to ya via Email.. If you'd like :) or you could buy it on Amazon.com for like $12 buck IIRC.. Which ever.

PM me and let me know whenever........
