Headed up around Goat with Scoobyclimbs, Chazmataz, and his buddy from work.

Good times. :burnout:

Had one incedent with some deep snow when venturing up a road, but nothing too bad.

Did lots of playing in an old gravel pit.

It was all snowy when we got there. It was all mud by the time we were done.

Got a few pics and some vid.

Camera was freaking out, (I think it was the cheap batteries) so the video didn't turn out as well as it could.

Little group shot.

Me playing on a rock.

A small clip of them moving pictures. Love how the camera distorted it all at the beginning. Dang cheap batteries.

that was a blast!!!!!

i'll get my pictures up soon. i would like to take a different line through that pound, one where the passenger side is in more of the water too.

any takers for next sunday???

I would love to hit up next sunday!

I do have to make sure my Fiancee will be cool with it though (we really only see each other on weekends and wednesday nights right now). But I don't see why not. She supports me in all my hobbies. She actually pushed me to start RallyCross, and flying R/C planes. And keeps bugging me to finish up my new album so she can play it in the club.

Can't wait to see what pics you got. I should have gotten more.

Get the rad all fixed up?

Oh yeah I forgot about easter.

No problem

I won't be able to make it next sunday as it's the first RallyCross.

Don't even know if I'm gonna be able to make that, as I have like 4 or 5 concert/club events I have to be at that weekend. And will proly be too burnt out for RallyCross. :-\

Nice. :)

I wandered up around there again today. There was a built Izuzu Trooper or something like that playing around in there. They were the only others I saw, other than a bunch of Yota's going in but I never ran across them after that.

Just a little up the road I found a nice Jeep trail. Followed it up a ways and then found a spot I would want a recovery rig on hand before hitting. (kind of a small valley/pit to cross and it was greasy) There was a good turn around there. I'm not 100% certain but I think I know where the other end is. (further up the "main" road, just before the one where the stuckage happened).

The gate further up into the logging road maze area was closed though. Guess they only open it at certain times.

Now the only problem is I think the bearings on the rear diff stubs are blown. I can hear knocking when I hit bumps, and the DOJ cups on the diff wiggle. But when I took the pins out I found they are rusted tight. So the whole stub must be moving. :(

we'll have to get up there and take a look at that area then and see just how bad it really is.

its possible the stub could be broken to, if its wiggling .next time you lift it see if you can pry the axle out, if it pops out with part of the stub then its broke. if you had bad bearings it should be making the normal bearing hum unless its real bad then it be making crunching sounds or worst.

let me know if you need any help i might be able to come up there all depends on which day. wed. and fridays i work a second job late, usually thursdays i'm off. chaz

Cool Thanks. I think I can get it apart. Just need to get cylinders for my torches. Maybe the little propane job I have will do the trick...

Everything still seems to work fine as far as still having drive at both rear wheels and all. It's the same knocking clunk as when we all went out last time. I know my rear wheel bearings are kinda sloppy but not making noise yet, and the type they are I can't tighten them up. But it's not just them, the diff cups wiggle as well. And once I get up to highway speed I no longer have the knocking over bumps. I think every bearing on the car started to take a crap once I started running it hard. :burnout:

Oh the sound I'm getting is like someone knocking on the floorboard. At first I thought something just came loose on the suspension and was banging on the body, but that all checked out good.

Yeah it's a fun trail. Not exactly sure when the next time I can make it out will be. Soon I hope.

Monday/Tuesday nights are good for me. Even for wheeling! :) In fact I usually try to go out and roll around some most tuesdays.

what times do you usually go out at and how long do you go for?

When I go it's usually between 6-7. Sometimes later once I know it'll be light longer. I like to get at least get some daylight wheeling in before having to kick on all the lights. Or at least make it out into the woods.

I really only stay out a couple hours. With the days getting longer I've not actually been out much past dark the past couple times. The last time was just a quick run up to Lolo to see if I could make it to the first trail I like. I almost made it but still a little too much snow. So I ran back down Marmot road an checked out some powerline trails along it in the valley near Brightwood I've seen on my map.... Couldn't get to them (gates n such). I need to check it out a little harder sometime though. I didn't try all of them.

Just a quick run if the mood/gas money strikes me. :)

Before it was all snowed in I would head for the top of Goat for the view.

Can't wait for that to be doable again.

You have to beat those axles off they are rusted on the cruching and wiggling is the bearings and race snapped in the doj cup dont heat it or you could mess up the shaft bearing or make things weak just pull off the diff get a really big punch or bar and beat those things off then ask general disorder about what axles you should drive with off road and he has a write up on how to rebuild them

My axles are in great shape, no slop there.

The slop is the stub axle in the diff. But is not that much and it's not making noise and the seals aren't leaking (diff is full of lube) so I'm just gonna run it till the diff blows....or I have the time/$$$ to tear into it. (all the bearings in the back are getting to be in need)

I found the source if the noise. Loose shock absorber.

All noise is gone now from what I can tell.

I looked into the off-road axle rebuild stuff. Thing is my suspension does not extend far enough to even begin to stress the ones I have. With the suspension fully extended I can still move the axle back and forth in the cups quite a bit. So I could mod my shocks and proly get some more extension before I start to stress the axles. :)

Just picked up a new can of PB Blaster just in case though.
