Signs that the Head Gasket is going????

Recommended Posts

Water comes out the exhause pipe, a decent amout. Looks like you took a spray bottle and sprayed everything in its exhaust path. Then it stops....kinda. The last 2 times i drove it hard snow bashing it over heated even with it bing 10 degrees out.

Are these good signs i might need to replace the head gasket?

Thanks

H2O is a byprduct of the catalytic converter, and you would expect to see some comming out of the tail pipe, expecially during cold weather, since the water will condense quicker. Better to look at the dipstick and oil cap for milkshake sludge.

A slight amount of water on the dipstick does not necessarily mean anything other then there may be condensation present from the cold.

Check your coolent for any OIL (it will float to the top), does your exhaust smell sweet? milky crap on oil cap? compression test?

If so R&R head gasket and check for warped heads

Not enough info to go by here.

Overheating while *snowbashing* could be from a snow obstructed radiator.

Water from the exhaust is normal in mot cases.

Any grey smoke? Los of coolant? Overheating under *regular* driving? Those would be signs of a bad HG.

But I'll say this, overheating it make it more likely that they will blow if they haven't yet.
