Have you seen this car?

Recommended Posts

So once upon a time I owned an 86 RX, and over time it got sold to my roomate, then someone else and now we don't know where it is. Supposedly it is somewhere in the portland/scappoose region and we're trying to track it down as we would like to get it back if we can. Here are some pictures of it, if you've seen it or know who has it I would love to know. When I had it it had half of a ford escort airbox, was missing the ru on the back (hence the screenname of suba) and a few other little issues. I'm trying to find it because we want to rebuild it into a proper rally vehicle, also I still somehow have the title, so whoever owns it, doesn't really own it. Thanks in advance!

Thats the one, but an old post. At that time my roomate owned it and had decided to sell it. he sold it a while later, but the kid that bought it didn't get the title because he apperently didn't have all the money, so my roomate held on to the title until he finished paying for it. Then apperently the kid sold it about a week later (with no title somehow) for twice as much and sorta disappeared. So, now we want to find out who bought it and see if they'll sell it back to us.

Well, i was thinking more out of courtesy than anything, i'm not going to shell out much, but I don't want to screw anyone. My roomate got $300 for it (what he got paid anyway) i figure it's only fair to give them that.

I actually did just get a carfax recently, last record though was in 2007 in Newberg oregon, so my guess is at this point its just been sitting somewhere. I've been hoping that its sitting with a for sale sign somewhere and somebody might see it in passing (no luck searching on craigslist). Of course, who knows it could be scrapped by now too.

Having been down this road before from both sides, the only way you're going to find out where it is or get it back is to report it stolen. You tell them you sold it to a guy who was supposed to pay you and didn't. He sold it to someone else and you have no idea where he is, the other guy or the car is. If it's been scrapped, it'll be in the Oregon DMV search as such. When they find the guy who has it, you tell him you'd be willing to pay him $X and drop the charges. No harm, no foul.

Thats kind of what I figure at this point. The issue with the title was that it was an Idaho title, but sold in oregon, got registered in oregon so according to the oregon dmv it couldn't be considered stolen. I'm not too concerned about a few hundred dollars anymore, but was primarily just looking to find the car again for nostalgia really.

It has probably been too long since the vehicle was "stolen" to report it as such any way. It's probably sitting in some one's yard or garage as people seem to be pretty lazy when it comes to finally junking cars. That's the only reason I have my '56 Chrysler, the engine blew in it in 1965, I took it from the exact spot it was parked 40 years later. Don't give up, it's out there some where.

I agree with that I had a 1989 Volvo sitting in my back yard since 2006 with a broken timing belt and 4 bent valves. Last week I decided to resurrect it 237k and still kicking strong:lol: It's out there, you just have to find it!

How funny. I live in Newberg. I'm reasonably certain its not for sale anywhere, but I'll keep an eye out for it. If it is parked anywhere I'll probably spot it sooner or later.
