EA82T fan clutch??

Recommended Posts

Instead of replacing the mechanical fan, find an EA81 car with AC and steal the slim electric fan from it. Gotta drill a couple holes in the radiator but works better then the mechanical fan, plus gives you a little horses back:banana:

I've been contemplating switching to dual electric fans on my SPFI coupe.

Will regular EA82 fans work, or are the EA81 fans more efficient?

the only problem is that there's no room on the driver's side for a regular electric fan which is why the slim fan is one of the only options besides getting an aftermarket one.

Discriminating Subaru owners will not only retrofit a 2nd electric fan in place of the clutch fan, but will slot the bottom mounting holes of both fans. Removing the radiator entirely will allow you to thread in bolts slightly longer than stock, install the fans with the bolts not quite snug, and double-up two nuts on the shaft end of the bolt (inside the radiator bottom frame). remove the fans before reinstalling the radiator, of course.

This will allow you to yank both fans in about a minute, making maintenance faster and easier.
