Rebuild or replace? EA81 Steering Rack

I'm looking for a rebuild kit or remanufactured rack for a EA81 w/ Manual steering.

 

Please tell me i'm not looking at spending $250...

 

Anybody have good sources?

Replace. There are no rebuild kist for the backyard mechanic. To many possible things that can go way too wrong if not done correctly, too many special tools needed, and that odd attraction the car develops to trees.

 

Find a rebuilt or a used one.

I have one here that came out of my '80 wagon.Its got 110K on it. Yours for $10.

How about a rack from an EA82?

 

I'm just trying to figure out my options.

i think i remember seeing in a post that somebody had an ea82 power steering rack in their ea81 car. can that be done? if so, can you also use an ea82 p/s pump?

S'ko did it in his Brat. Added Power steering too. Althoughg I think he used the whole EA82 crossmemeber, so that may not be a bolt on option.
