simbey1982
Heads were taken to an automotive machine shop where .004 of an inch was machined off of the head for a flat non pitted surface. The heads were then pressure tested to ensure they were not cracked or leaking...ill give this stuff a try this weekend Cory
simbey1982
so i am going to eat crow:grin: ....as i was looking over those timing sheets i noticed my problem...I had the cam sprokets lined up correctly using the mark not the arrow....the problem was the crankshaft sproket...it also has an arrow and a mark and i was using the arrow....doh!!! did the timing again and it started right up....bone head move on my part. Also i found if your hydraulic clutch needs bled to work after having the clutch out...wait 8 days and it fixes itself:confused: . Now i just have to figure out why one of my cylinders isnt firing...could be plugs i didnt check the gap before i put it all back together....thanks for the help...:-p Cory
OB99W
so i am going to eat crow:grin: [...]the problem was the crankshaft sproket...it also has an arrow and a mark and i was using the arrow....doh!!! did the timing again and it started right up....bone head move on my part.[...] You're certainly not the first (and unlikely to be the last) to misinterpret the sprocket marks. However, you followed through, and found the problem, so you get points for that. Now i just have to figure out why one of my cylinders isnt firing...could be plugs i didnt check the gap before i put it all back together....thanks for the help...:-p Cory Do check the plugs, and any other "easy" stuff. If you still have a problem, let us know specifics (which cylinder, any trouble codes, etc.).
johnceggleston
it is very tempting in a thread like this one to YELL at the original poster that he used the wrong timing marks, it happens alot. it is a credit to this board that all the members who offered helpful advice resisted this temptation. also murffy's law says as soon as you yell your answer, another cause will show up. or is that karma. congrats on the fix, and kudos to those who helped. OB99W
[...]also murffy's law says as soon as you yell your answer, another cause will show up. or is that karma.[...]As I've said before, most of us will admit to occasional mistakes, and the rest are liars (or at least in denial). Ben Franklin said something like this: "Be wary of giving advice -- wise men don't need it, and fools won't heed it." Now, that may be a bit extreme, and I'm not sure if Franklin ever commented on the giving of bad advice. I continue to post on USMB (and not certain other boards) specifically because "yelling" and other forms of disrespect are rare here. However, I've dropped out of threads when the original poster seemed unwilling to consider that a mistake was made, or to provide info needed to complete a diagnosis. Life's too short...
