timing alignment help?

Recommended Posts

so i snapped a timing belt yesterday, and am having some real troubles getting the cams correctly aligned to the crank. i've been doing the routine of:

-distributor side cam pin straight up

-put the crank to the whatever degrees of the timing

-put that sides belt in

-turn the crank over once, so the cam opposite

-put the non-distributor side cam pin straight up

-put in the belt

no luck

please help, what am i doing wrong?

Yeah, you're using the wrong marks. Don't use the numbered TDC scale. Rotate the eninge clockwise another 90 degrees and you will see three lines

Looks like this: l l l

Use the center of those 3 lines as the mark.
