Numbchux
been discussed. been tried. They're made of much thinner/weaker metal than a normal wheel and will bend muuuuch easier.
ezapar
its tough to tell from the pic but the wagon had those donuts this pic was taken at the top of nachees in about 2001 his name was subiebeast he learned the hard way that they're not the way to go he bent a few of them on the trail but he also had a heavy foot maybe if you didnt drive hard on them or wheel them theyd be fine you know just park it in the yard and look at it so the wheels wont get bent that way
Gloyale
Around here, any of the reputable tire shops won't install regular tires on spare rims. Too much liabilty.

one eye
I heard that it's illegal, but that could be wrong. Jeff
SakoTGrimes
Couldn't a competent welder use scrap steel to reinforce these donut wheels to make them usable?
chazmataz
Couldn't a competent welder use scrap steel to reinforce these donut wheels to make them usable? what part are you talking about getting welded? the whole wheel is weaker. these wheels and tires are only make to get you to the nearest place to get your flat fixed and to get in under 50 mph. not to mention they are marked as temporary thats why they are a "T" wheel. sure some of that is the tires limitation but its also the wheel. Andy FitzGibbon
Couldn't a competent welder use scrap steel to reinforce these donut wheels to make them usable? No. You'd be farther ahead to cut the centers out of the wheel of your choice and replace them with four-lug centers. That's probably still technically illegal, and getting them to run true enough for highway use could be frusturating. Andy
chazmataz
you'd be better off just either drilling the hub out ( like i did) and converting to 6 lug chevy, toyota, nissan, or getting the 6 lug wheels and drilling the 2 extra holes on the rims( like some people have done) to make them fit the unmodified hubs. you can get the wheels from a wrecking yard for about 20-30 bucks and new ones aren't all the expensive too. theres info on this forum telling you how to do either. i think the nissan wheels look awesome on my grey 86' and i get people always saying "i didn't know subarus had 6 lugs"
