Radiator Retrofit Auto to Manual

Featured Replies

I purchased a rad thinking they were all the same for my 98 manual OBW. I picked up one up from an automatic. Can I just have the holes plugged? for the transmission cooller lines?

you don't even need to do that. if you don't put any thing into the trans cooler part, nothing will leak out. the trans cooler part of the rad is sealed and seperate from the coolant.

+1

I installed a «universal» rad on my manual and it comes with the trans cooler part. You just ignore it and all is well.

I thought of maybe using it to warm the windshield washer fluid but I dont think it's such a good idea.

Did someone think of other uses it can be put to?

external oil cooler

Or....

Like Nissan Altima,

external power steering cooler.

Yeah just put it in, you don't have to do anything with the holes. I have an automatic radiator in my wrx, most replacement ones are universal anyway.

Trouble is that using it to "cool" engine oil or PS oil will only get the "cooled" oil down to the RADIATOR temp.

And the oil pressure (80 psi at startup) would probably be too much for the rad plumbing.

Coffee?

Yea! One could probably build a dashboard expresso machine using it as a boiler.
