True2Blue Posted April 27, 2008 Share Posted April 27, 2008 and everything seems great engines runnin good im on time and im rockin out to system of a down:headbang: well i get into fourth gear and im cruisin down the road at 50 or so:cool: almost to the bear arms 4 way stop in kent. but on the only long corner with narrow sholders my rear passenger hub caught fire and exploded:eek: scared the crap outta me:lol: i had no idea what happend. the back end was all over the place and it felt like i has a square tire on the front:-\ now (i have pics ill post soon) im goin to the trails to pull hubs, axels and rear diffs. so now im off to start wrenchin:rolleyes: Sgt. joostvdw Posted April 27, 2008 Share Posted April 27, 2008 good job on keeping it on the road! it wouldn't be the first time someone parked their car in a ditch after blowing a tire or similar event (exploding hubs for instance ) if you really need your pics as evidence it happened to you, place today's newspaper and your dogtag (I assume you have one, being in the army and all) by the toasted rear end and take a picture. True2Blue Posted April 27, 2008 Author Share Posted April 27, 2008 Ill take that pic haha I went to the trails and the work was already done, everything was unbolted I think someone wanted the parts but it was too heavy to muscle up the hill. I just walked out of the woods with a good swing arm hub axel and diff all connected:lol: heavy as s@%t too im going back to get front hub and axel assembly, rear struts the starter if i can get it and misc parts off the other one. i gotta flip it upside down again first Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Some years back, I was with three other guys in a Corvair, cruising around Vashon Island when the rear wheel caught fire. We all jumped out and ran, until we remembered that Unsafe At Any Speed Corvairs have the gas tank UP FRONT. (ha ha) We tossed dirt on it until the fire went out.
