Hi All-

I was hoping somebody could help me with a turn signal/hazard problem. Both stopped working. I get no dash indicator either. When I hit the turn signal switch or the hazard switch, I hear a single click under the dash but no lights. Is it the flasher unit?

 

If so, can anybody tell me where under the dash it is located? Also, I have called AutoZone and my local auto parts store. Neither one has it listed. Is it a dealer only part?

Hmmmm. When I went to install a new radio and a new dash clock in my 02 Outback Sport, I had to unplug the switch that controls the hazards. I needed to drive somwhere before the install was done, and guess what - no turn signals. Turned around, went home, plugged the switch back in, and they worked.

 

My guess is the switch is dead. But that's just a guess. I know nothing.:)

Its a failed flasher. The flasher is solid state, so it needs power to operate. If its a failed bulb, you would blink twice as fast.

 

Things to check

Are the blinkers working outside the car?

Does the 4 way flash?

Is the fuse good?

 

It's going to be a dealer item since they rarely go bad.

 

On a legacy its near the fuse panel on the lefthand side under the dash. A Dealer should be able to help you find it.

No blinkers on the outside. No 4-ways and fuse looks good. I can hear the relay click under the dash when I hit the switch but that is all I get. :(

I wouldn't imagine it would very expensive from the dealer, but just in case it is, I should have a replacement if you're interested in a used one. I've got a "spare" '99 OBS I've stripped.
