gekofix
1996 with OBD-I, not throwing any codes, misfires when I give it over 30% throttle but only under 2k rpm, if I give it more throttle I can push thru. It doesn’t backfire just hesitates. When stationary I can rev it to the redline, and when driving with the rpm above 2k I can apply full throttle with no misfire/hesitation in any gear. If the engines cold or warm doesn’t matter. I have tried new leads, and today I pull on a new knock sensor because the old one was cracked, but no change. The sparkplugs look great with a light grey tip. Please help , this is driving me mad!
jamal
check and see if there are stored codes. You can have one without the light being on. You might also want to find a multimeter and test things like the MAF and coilpack.
gekofix
Had another look at it today, no codes are stored in the computer, and im reading the correct values on the coil pri/sec. MAF is brand new from subaru dealer. Any more ideas, please?
nipper
If you are going to go through all the hassel of removing the plugs, they should have been replaced. Did you use OE wires? http://dodgeram.org/tech/gas/Trouble/miss_diagnosis.htm I know its a dodge site, but it works for other engines too. nipper

hohieu
Did you try testing the coil with the engine at operating temperature? Sometimes coils only test bad when hot.
