A Noise on warm up and accel

Featured Replies

Car: 02 H6 wagon, 107k kilometers, auto. New tranny fluid. New oil.

We thought it might be the heat shields, but they seem ok. When we are starting to accelerate from a stop light you can here the rattle when you step on the gas. The sound can be heard on the driver and passengers side. It comes and goes. When we took it in for oil change the guy said something about the 'bell housing' could that be it?

thanks

I still suspect a loose shroud around the exhaust and cat converter. On mine the sound would resonate at only certain engine rpm. I finally put my car up on drive up ramps at home, then crawled under the car and listened while I had someone slowly accelerate the motor. Once you trace the noise, it should be easy to fix.

Yes its still a heat shield. Check them with the car stone cold.

My legacy did that... the stuff inside the catalytic convert (the stuff that converts the catalyst) was broken up into pieces and causing vibrations at certain rpms/loads.
