Phizmo5
Happy holidays! The day after christmas, my sister backed into front end of my 1996 OB while on her way to Wal-mart. The hood is totaled, the left headlamp housing is scrapped, the grill is semi-damaged, and the front bumper has a major break/gouge. Sooooo seeing how this is a FAMILY affair, and to go easy on my Kid Sister, I'll be doing a majority of the replacement work myself. First up... Any suggestions on an on-line vendor / search engine for subaru parts? Second, What model years are common to 1996 insofar as hood replacement and headlamp housing? Thanks for any advice you folks may have... I've been poking/lurking around here for quite some time and you have helped me greatly in the past. Thank you! Fun Times, Todd J. cookie
a wire service. Request replacement parts in the same color and odds are you might not need to paint it. On old paint jobs I have gotten away with this several times as the paint is faded about as much as the original. The wrecking yard should do the translation for you as they have books on what fits what. This is not what I would do on my BMW, but it would be a fine repir for my 99 Forester. If you are not going to paint tell the wrecker that up front so he can tell the workers not to scratch the panels.

Commuter
1996 Outback? (Legacy I'm assuming.) That's the first year of the "new" look, right? So I don' t think anything older will fit. This model ran from 96 to 99. Headlights changed in 98 I think. I don't know if newer ones would fit, but they went from H4 bulbs to 9007 (?). Hoods should be fine. Even a Legacy wagon hood (sans scoop) would fit I suspect. Grill and bumper. Again, I don't know if a 98 or 99 is the same. I'm not aware of differences between 96 and 97, but, I'm no expert on these models either. Commuter
