Turbone
Hey Boz, I didnt know you had a SVX. Way cool I happen to have 3. Have one on the road, one waiting for engine and tranny and the other is the donor. My somewhat DD has 202+++mi on it. I installed a tranny cooler, put some Nissan Murano wheels on it and tinted the windows. It now needs a paint job. Oh, I also replaced the windshield. At a cost of $360. But it does not come with the moulding If the installer is careful(mine wasnt) it can be re-used. I did up my insurance on it to cover the glass. We do have a short lifespan on glass here in the PNW, so hopefully I will need another one soon. I know that sounds bad, but with a $100 deductible I will be able to afford a OEM replacement ($1200). So far I havent had any problems like the tranny, wheel bearings, etc. I believe the car was well taken care of before I got it from the last owner. And he didnt have it that long. It this is a great story.... One day my wife and I went to visit some friends and in their driveway is stilling this emerald SVX. I stop and drool over it so long that my wife has to drag me into the house. Anyways, this is like 6-7 months after we got married. When we were married, I had my OBS and the BRAT, but I always wanted an SVX b/c they are the hotness. My wife had a Civic DX that she was ripped off on so she hated the car. We agree that she can take about $1800 and buy another car maybe an Acura or another Honda or some other cheap econobox. So I get a call from her and she said "honey, can you run this vin number to check the smog history on this car?... JF1... " I think "JF1. I know that from somewhere...." The smog check site shows a subby SVX. I almost crap in my pants. she said that it's at a tow yard and had been sitting there for a year and a 1/2. They guy wants 1800 for it, does not know why it's there, but he has the keys. It starts up and moves. At first I am hesitant b/c I think probably a bad tranny or something else wrong, but she talks him down to $1500. We paid 2 years of old registration on it and I do a tune up and it passes smog w/o any problems. We have had it now for almost 3 years. So far I have replaced the water pump, timing belt, resealed the front seals, A/C took a crap so I am in the process of replacing that. But not bad for less than 2K on the car. Mileage is 164,XXX. mountaingoatgruff
i looked at the svx, bad tranny for sure. it doesn't want to move in reverse or shift into drive after trying. i'm not sure about the rest of the car but i asked the dude straight up if he would come down some and he got butthurt at the idea that i would barter with him even after he offered he his "special family price." he kept going on about his stupid rims - "those were a g alone!" yeah, he's that kind of guy. i said piss on him and told him if he cares to pull his head out of his @%# he knows where to find me. really sucks cuz i hadn't seen an svx in real life before that and it was love at first sight! i was pleased with how comfortable the car felt, too. on with the cl searches... i guess is should ask though, is $2300 high for a 94 with a bad tranny? that was beyond my budget really, but for future reference. mountaingoatgruff
yeah, i called the number and some teeny-bopper chick answered. i tried again to make sure i didn't misdial and she cussed me out. so i emailed the cl reply address a couple times and got no reply. that was last week actually. i told my cousin about it and that's what brought up my step-uncle's svx. if i could get ahold of the guy i'd snatch that svx for sure! Turbone
Well, considering the low mileage and LSi package (leather) it woud be worth that much. If the tranny was good. If its in excellent shape, then I might consider it for that price. I would do whatever it takes to find out more about the one on CL/Fresno. Thats a hella good price, even with a bad tranny. You can get a Lego tranny for pretty cheap, at the most $300.
