It's just so Guigiaro in its uncompromising, flat panel, fabulousness. And there is something comically cool about emerging onto the scene from

gullwing doors. It's from the past; it's from the future.. It IS the

80's. I LOVE it!

learn me a little something whose engine is in those I always thought they used a ford v8 but I may be thinking of another car (Pantera)

WOW, here's a bit of engine trivia material! The DMC-12 was powered by this . . .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRV_engine

a 6 cylinder (explains the slight underpower issue) Peugeot, Renault and Volvo co-designed engine . . .

But using the Volvo version, you would source Volvo parts, and use Volvo manuals. A "strange" car for sure, probably the biggest downfall was most were sold/serviced by a "big 3" car dealer, by folks not having a clue about european cars, and "bashing" at them like they would a Ford, or Chev.

A side note: a "Renault" version of the same engine can be found in the old (or, original) Eagle Premier, of which I saw 200 buried out behind the AMC Bramalea plant. (I was hanging assembly line conveyors) The first 200 cars off the assembly line (the doors didn't fit). Resulting in Renault selling AMC to Chrysler, not wishing to throw any more money down that deep, dark, hole.

a new company has taken over DMC, and upon finding warehouses full of complete cars and parts, they've started to "re-market" the DMC-12. you can buy one of these brand new, again  . reason i mention it is because i'm just about positive that they went with gm engines, a coupla options too.

Yeah, I never quite got those:

Guigiaro design

Lotus handling

Peugeot engine

Like they put all the money into the CAR and didn't have enough left to put a decent engine in the thing!

This made me laugh out loud! It's so true. Why go to all the trouble to do everything first rate and then falter on the heart of the car? It's a decent engine, actually, but just not anything you'd expect to find in the back of a "sports" car... Still, I can't help but get a BIG GRIN, like this :  every time I drive it.

1) There are very few emissions approved engines available for wholesale purchase to a small manufacturer of vehicles.

2) Once installed in a vehicle, there needs to be some kind of support structure worldwide, what better choice than a Volvo engine?

We saw the same kind of thing with cars from Jensen:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jensen_Motors

specifically:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jensen_Interceptor

4 wheel drive version:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jensen_FF

The ""SP FF" version" being the most "fun".

If you can find one of these Bryan it might make an impressive addition to your collection. The only drawback is electrics by Lucas.
