SuBaRiNo
I have just began wiring up my leone sedan tail lights onto my hatch and have find an unusual coil mounted near the wiring on one of the lights. It is situated behind the plastic pannel which holds in the glodes. A pic can be seen at the link below. Where you will see the coil on the right hand side of the holder. http://community.webshots.com/photo/103615033/107630091cqdxox What does this do? And do i need it? Thanks guys Dave
Setright
Not sure. Off hand I'd day it ramps the voltage up, and down again. Fades the light in and out, instead of flipping it on and off.
Skip
RiNo, looks like it could be a relay for connecting/disconnecting the brake lamp from the turn signal By chance do these lights share a globe for these two funtions?
88rxsedan
looks like the sensor for the "lamp" light if your car has that
Supaglu
Hi, Is it not the brake light bulb failure unit, ie if your brake light bulb fails it lights up on the dash. Regards Dave H
SuBaRiNo
Upon further investigation and some posting on other forums, i have found that it is infact the break light warning system that turns the break light on in the dash if a glob blows. Thanks everyone for your help. I was a little confused because the wagons and the hatch i have both have a seperate unit located in the rear fender which did this. Thanks again Dave

Hondasucks
That's weird, my stop lamp checker was separate from the light unit, is in a small metal canister, about the size of an old mechanical turn signal flasher, and says "STOP LAMP CHECKER DO NOT DROP" on the case. Sweet82
If I remove the stop lamp checker (un-plug), will it mess anything up? I want to remove as much usless wiring as I can. This one has 6 wires attached to it. If I get rid of this will the dash light be on? Thanks, Glenn 82 Summer, almost wired....... 01 Forester, bent but not broken........ Hondasucks
If you remove it, the brake lights won't work since the brake lights are wired through the checker.
