zukiru
I have seen that 05+ legacy stuff has been used with a 5-lug swap.. the slip-overs aren't as bad as everyone says they are (ground controls are pretty dern nice) the problem is typically people use these really heavily sprung kits, with old, blown struts. (look also for a kit with helper springs spring within a spring)
suberdave
yes i have done the 05+ Legacy struts with the 5lug setup. it is totaly awesome. i have had some cheep slide on's before and they were hard as nails. the setup i have now is probably the nicest setup ever on a 80's GL. now if i only had some new bushings (they will be done this summer) all would be well. my car has been ran at auto crosses and tracked on a road course. and the car handles awesome. defantly worth the money invested... questions shoot me a PM pics can be seen at my webpage. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
Numbchux
the slip-overs aren't as bad as everyone says they are (ground controls are pretty dern nice) quoted for truth! if you've still got 4-lug, your options are quite limited. the universal sleeves are usually very stiff, and low quality springs. Also, I've driven a couple cars with Tien, BC and Megan Racing full coilover systems, and I really didn't like the quality on either (from a comfort standpoint....but if all you're after is an insanely stiff suspension, just get the cheap coilover sleeves.....and from the guys I know running them, none of them really hold up very well over time). That said, a set of Ground Control sleeves (genuine Eibach springs, any spring rate, IMHO 185/250 F/R works well for an EA82) will cost less than any full coilover option, and be higher quality than anything you can get for less than $3k, and still very adjustable. You've driven a car with Tein and you didn't like it? Tein suspension(coilovers with the adjustable struts) is one of the best on the market. I bet the owner probably had them set to a stiff setting, if not the stiffest one. That is a common mistake. If you tune them right, they can run circles around the OEM suspension and still have enough damping and travel to even calm Grandma's reservations about taking that quick ride to the market.
