GREENSUBIE
I cant seem to find a post that has a step by step or if the rear disc brakes off an 88 gl 10 ea82t 4 wheel drive would fit on my 86 gl 4 wheel drive hatch ? any help? Thanks SS
Bucky92
Yes they will.. I have done the swap myslef and printed out a step by step that is here in the repair manual ..I think.. Its super easy..I did a FWD drum to disk swap in about 2 hours total As long as the donor is 4WD its the right stuff..4WD to 4WD,..FWD to FWD
Bucky92
Here ya go..the link to the step by step I used to do mine: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49975
TheSubaruJunkie
Cant get any more steps than that. pretty basic swap. Your hatch is no different than any other Subaru as far as the rear end is concerned.

Spiffy
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49975 that's the guide I used when I took the rear discs off my '88 turbo wagon and put them on my '82 wagon... really easy... although getting the right combination of brake lines took a few minutes... --Spiffy
GREENSUBIE
Since i will be putting rear disc brakes on my hatch, the donor parts are off a turbo wagon, will i need a porportioning valve ?
TheSubaruJunkie
Nope.
Spiffy
Since i will be putting rear disc brakes on my hatch, the donor parts are off a turbo wagon, will i need a porportioning valve ? it's been debated here before... I didn't use a valve and I haven't had any issues at all, and I've hit the brakes hard plenty of times since the swap... --Spiffy
LuberJack
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but it looks like the question was answered already. My car has a 5 lug swap on the wheels (done before I purchased it), how would this effect doing the rear disc swap?

My car has a 5 lug swap on the wheels (done before I purchased it), how would this effect doing the rear disc swap? It seems odd that you dont already have rear disc if a 5 lug swap was done. Have the rotors/drums been redrilled or the wheels? You will need the rear disc's from a XT6 for any EA82 swap.
edrach
Since i will be putting rear disc brakes on my hatch, the donor parts are off a turbo wagon, will i need a porportioning valve ?I've done at least a dozen of those swaps including two Brats which I'm still driving and never needed to change a proportioning valve change. Hm...I'm not sure what was done for the swap, as the previous owner did it and didn't tell me anything about it. Haha Is the XT6 5 lug? LuberJack
Hahaha....wowwww...never mind. I just went out and re-parked my car and realized it's still 4 lug. Thats what I get for not being around my car more often, I don't know what I was thinking!
TheSubaruJunkie
Yeah i was going to say... your car looks (in the pictures in the other thread) to have 13" Cal Master rims, which only came in 4lug. -Brian
