wheres all the ej22 motor mounts?

Hey, Im new to legacys.

 

Im in the middle of replacing the ej22 in my 91 legacy. I could only find 2 bolts holding the engine down to the crossmember. Or, do I need to undo the bolts that are under the bushings as well?

Those 2 nuts are all there is.

so 2 motor mounts got that, 4 bellhousing bolts got those, everything disconnected.

 

Im gonna take off the tranny bolts as well, jack that up a little i guess, and giver with the hoist.

When you have the eng/trans lifted with whatever you're using support the tranny. Make sure the motor mount studs clear the crossmeember. Make sure you've removed the bolt from the pitch stopper/dog bone. They will come out with this bolt in bit won't go back in. I leave atlead tthe top bolts in until the tranny is supported. I didn't see where it's an auto or stick.

 

If it's an auto double check that the ATF lines are dis-connected.

 

It's been a while since I did an early 90's.

 

Look around here and for endwrench links. Lots of good stuff.

And the *pitch stopper* or *dogbone* as it's called. But that actually bolts to the front of the trans on all the EJ cars.

 

Still, it helps to remove that so you can reposition the trans for reassembly.

Also if it's an Auto, I highly recommend removinmg the four Flexplate to Torque converter bolts. That way the engine doesn't have to come as far away from the trans, and you won't have to risk the tricky reinstallation of the Torque converter.

 

If you do remove the Torque converter, make sure you read up on and understand the proceedure for reinstalling it or you risk boogering you're ATF pump in the trans.
