J320M3 Posted June 11, 2008 Share Posted June 11, 2008 i have a 89 Surbaru DL, the engine took a crap. i was wondering if i could get the EA82T (turbo) and tranny from with that engine and put it in my car. kingbobdole Posted June 11, 2008 Share Posted June 11, 2008 On the tranny side.... you'll need the axles as the Turbo ones are more splines. You'll also need to change the rear diff to accommodate the Turbos final drive.... but, any EA82 will bolt up to any ea82 tranny... so you really don't get anything by swapping the tranny... unless you need one anyway. On the engine side you can put it in, it will bolt up, but you'll have to wire it. Not a simple task for sure, and it may not be something you want to take on... It was just the EA82 sohc carb a/t. any help would be great thx. 89 should be an Fuel injected car. Are you sure about the year?? Are you sure It's not Fuel injected?? It must be a swap if it is an 89 with a carb. Which means it should be wired for an SPFI(not turbo but fuel injected, better thant the carbs) You may have an easy route to a better driving car.
