BoxersOnly
The '98 EJ25 I'm putting into my Beetle had fuel temp and fuel tank pressure sensors. Are these sensors used only for the emission CEL ? Or are they actually used to make the engine run properly ? Thanks, Rob.
porcupine73
Wow this thread has been on the waiting list for a long time! I believe they are for emissions purposes only. The ECU wants the fuel temp to be in a certain range along with some other parameters before doing the fuel system integrity test (which it then uses the pressure sensor in the performance of). There's a good emissions article on endwrench that probably has more info.
davebugs
Wow - old thread. Wonder if he ever got this done. And if it was a old Beetle or New Beetle? I'm having troubles picturing a 2.5 in an air-cooled Beetle in the traditional place. I had done the Corvair engine a few times years ago. Haven't messed with a New Beetle yet.
