The Dude Abides
Yea so driveing home and i hear that sound where you know your brakes are going. Funny thing is that they never gave any indication they were going. Fine one day then grindeing. So im going to replace pads and rotors. Ive read some writeups on what some people put on. Has anyone put the brembros on. What pads did you put with them. Man when it rains it pours for subaru repair, might need to sell my mazda wheels to fund it. SubaRube
I just scored some Brembo's from TireRack.com for $10 a piece. Shipping was only $13 and I got them the next day. I guess they're not going to stock parts for our cars anymore, just "special order" from here on out. Not sure how many they have left. I put some new Brembo's on three or four years ago and haven't had any problems to report. I put a set of Bendix Import IQ's on at the same time and haven't had any problems there either. I got the last set of Ceramics TireRack.com had in stock for $16 so thats what I'll be using this time around.

TomRhere
Check to make sure your rear brakes aren't in need of adjustment. Mine make a noise simular to metal on metal when the rears are in need of some tweekage..
chef_tim
I ordered calipers and rotors today from the dealership . I rebuilt the calipers last year, but the passenger side is sticking again so I figure just spend the real money and be done with it for a long time. Got so hot the lugnuts sizzled when I spit on them (my hillbilly version of an inferred thermometer). I really hope the wheel bearings survived the . I think I'm going to go with ceramic pads, and I'll also replace the rubber lines. Good luck with yours Ben, I'll let you know how mine turn out. Tim PS just noticed I was in the Ol'school section. I'm doing my 97 OB wagon but last year I did the rear caliper, pads and rotors on the 87 wagon for about $180. Not to bad considering the rotors and calipers alone for the OB are $350!! The Dude Abides
Man its gettin bad now. I cant believe i didnt have any indication that they were startin to go. When me and mick did the ball joints (mosty mick:D ) i saw they were low but not that worn. Im gonna need to replace atleast one rotor at this rate. Theyve already started wearing a groove in there. I thought i could pry some xtra bucks from the ole lady so i could convert the rears to disc but with the wheel bearing howling, timeing belt tensioners on the fritz and a clicking axel on the drivers side i think ill keep it on the cheep side.
