[HTi]Johnson
I've searched, but all the links I found were broken. Can someone send me a picture of the socket or a socket you made, for the re torquing of the head bolts on the ea82s? Thanks much, Justin.
TheSubaruJunkie
Isnt it just a standard 12point 14mm socket?
joostvdw
No you can't reach the headbolts with a normal socket if you want to keep the cam carriers on (which is what you want when you're only retorquing) It's like a shallow socket welded onto an thin extension, this allows you to clear the cam. GeneralDisorder
Turn/cut down a regular socket till it fits. Pictures really aren't helpful since you'll have to test fit it anyway. GD
Frank B
If you have to turn one down to make it thinner, put it on an extension, put that in a variable speed drill, and hold a piece of emory cloth on the socket as you spin it. I had to do that to get a spark plug socket to fit on an EA82 once.

A hacksaw would work probably as well and takes 1/10th of the time.
markman34
In the past I used a shallow socket on a loose wobbler extension. I had to thread the bolt down by hand almost all the way so I could get the socket on there. I got lucky I guess...

markman34
LOL! Good point. Those HG's did hold though. If fact, they're still in the car now. Pretty lucky for such poor procedure. "USE AT OWN RISK" LOL
