joostvdw Posted June 23, 2008 Share Posted June 23, 2008 No you can't reach the headbolts with a normal socket if you want to keep the cam carriers on (which is what you want when you're only retorquing) It's like a shallow socket welded onto an thin extension, this allows you to clear the cam. Frank B Posted June 24, 2008 Share Posted June 24, 2008 If you have to turn one down to make it thinner, put it on an extension, put that in a variable speed drill, and hold a piece of emory cloth on the socket as you spin it. I had to do that to get a spark plug socket to fit on an EA82 once. Just watch it as the emory piece and the socket will get very VERY hot in a short notice.
