I went offroading 2 saterdays ago.For the most part everything went well except for splashing water on the coil in the middle of a pond...

anyway after all the bouncing and stuff my driver's door wouldnt open so I figured one of the cables or rods that work the door latch came off.Today I finally to take off the door panel and see whats up.I got it apart and everything seemed intact. So I look around trying to see why the door wouldnt open.it turns out that the door lock had gotten bumped or bounced into the locked position, and I didnt know...so I had been getting into the car either though the passenger door or climbing in through the driver's side window like a nascar vehicle.boy I feel stupid..

so have you guys ever done something stupid like that?

Ive had to kick my driver side rear door open from the inside of my car ever since I tightened the loose outer handle :-\ Also, after my rear window broke, occasionally a small peice of glass would lodge into the lacth mechanism in the hatch making it impossible to close it, it would just fly open. I thought it waas just toast so I strapped it shut with a tow strap for about a week until I took a closer look and found the problem. Hmm, Ive replaced a coil when all I had to do was replace a fusible link, Ive shot holes in my hood, Ive cut holes in my hood to help cool the motor when all it needed was a coolant change :-\ I have taken my car half apart just to get one axle out, breaking off several punches in the process, and the list goes on... :burnout:

as for coil and disty problems. rtv the disty cap, and use dielectrical grease while installing your plug and coil wires. that should seal 99% of the power robbing water out, and relieve the random misses when you get water vapor in your disty cap.

I locked the keys in my 85 turbo wagon at work one day and it was in the winter and spent 30 min trying to get something to unlock my door when i looked at the bottom of the door and it was rusty and i dont mean "rusty" like a little surface rust like this car was so rusty the rear washer jar fell out of the car the quarters were gone !! so i just peeled up the door skin half way up the door and just reached up and unlocked the door from the out side  it was too easy it was funny .

let see, was offroading with a buddy in his chevy luv that was on 33's, went slow through a small pond about half way up the tires, water hit the coil and it dies there.

got a replacement from the wife after 2 hours.

and ive done the 4wd thing a few times wondering why it was so hard to go anywhere.
