280xxx (or was it 250xxx i can't remember) meh, when you hit that level does it matter??

no rust that i can find, solid body

2wd

everything looks like it works, drives solid, typical cracked signals, one with a broken spot on the plastic.

Guy wants 1000 for it.

I test drove it and it drives and feels great.

What am i missing? What should i be looking for? Am i paying too much?

At that kind of mileage, it could be a great car, but it will probably need things from time to time. Even if the car has been really well maintained, it will probably need parts. Nothing against the car, just trying to tell you reality. You WILL be looking at repairs over time. Maybe things like a radiator, steering components, etc.. Just trying to give you an idea what will wear out at that era, if it hasn't already been replaced. Luckily, parts are fairly easy to find, and reasonably priced. Especially for a 2wd commuter car.

I do have to say... that is FAR too much for that car. Even if it is in prime condition, it is an 83 2wd DL wagon. For that money, you should be able to find an 83 4wd GL HATCHBACK. Or a GL wagon, if you are really looking for a wagon. If you hunt, you should even be able to find a GL wagon, with much nicer features (like power steering!:slobber: ) for that kind of cash. Not to knock the guy. That price is just way up there for a car that isn't really that desirable in ANY way.

I know what you are saying. trustme I would love to find a 4wd. what I am really looking for though is just a reliable wagon to move my german shepherd and I around.lack of power steering does not bother me. he car is so light I did not even notice it until I was pulling back in.my problem is that every older subie I find has a laundry list of problems. this car seems pretty good, yeah I know there will be big repairs own the road and I am ready for that. if I could find a solid 4 wd wagon for 1000 I would tackle it.posting from my phone, sorry for any errors

Is this the one you were looking at? If so, the price has come down.

No that's not it, this is a silver one with intact glass.

I know what you mean, i just need something the move myself and the dog around. The WRX will be down for a while until i find a stock down pipe and even once it's up it will be a while before my brat is done. I need a reliable box to move myself and my mutt up and down the state in. Perferably one with a subaru emblem on the front of it.

I get payed on friday and will have the last few hundred i need to pick it up, if i can't talk him down a little i may still buy it.

That is unless i find a nice little wagon somewhere close by instead.
