Hey everyone!

Blew up my KIA Rio last week and siezed the oportunity to get back into Subarus :) Found a nice one on the MN Subaru forum and bought it on SAT. She needs some work but the body is very nice; especially for being a Minnesota car. Funny enough; the guy I bought this from was the guy who bought my old lifted '88 GL wagon :-p

Don't tell my wife but I bought her mostly for her body! I've wanted an OBS since I first saw them 10 years ago. They are finally getting into my price range! Which means they need some work but atleast it's a vehicle I know how to work on and enjoy working on.

I know ... I know.... pictures! =P I haven't taken any of my own yet but you can see the seller's posted pics here: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24519&page=3

Now I'm off to use the coveted Search feature.

cool cars, my wife totally loves hers even though i've asked/offered to upgrade to a newer, trimmed legacy. but she likes it too much. the space in the back yet small size make it a great utility type vehicle. easy to throw a hitch on, roof racks, we can put both our bikes inside the car if we want. and it's not huge like a full size wagon. and of course the EJ22, can't beat that.

i hardly think i have to mention this to you, but keep in mind that 1997 is the first year of interference EJ22's - so you'll want to check not only the timing belt but the pulleys and water pump as well. even if the car has 20,000 miles that stuff may be 10+ years old.

Previouse owner bought it from a shop for just that reason. Timing belt went and took the valve train with it. He said that he swaped in the long block from a '95 EJ22 which is non-interference.

That being said; I should still check the timing belt, pullies, and pumps regardless! =)

Funny you should mention the ski wagon! I was showing a friend my OBS and she mentioned "yeah Subaru was like the ski team official vehicle for a while." I then told her about how you had one of those.

That is one sweet wagon; love that ski team edition!

This is weird...... A guy I used to work for has been looking for a subaru for one of his kids. He came to me a couple of weeks ago looking for advise and today he stops by with the twin of that car!!!! Unfortunately it was a disaster, torque bind, soft brakes, no stereo, miss-matched tyres and the whole thing Earl Shrive'd:eek:   . The car lot wanted right at 3 grand!!!! Needless to say I encouraged him to run away, fast.

Looks like you got a nice one, oh and welcome back:headbang:

Hey thanks Tim; I agree that the car you described was a rip off!

EVOthis: It was covering up the ABS light. One of the sensors at the wheel is broke. The CEL didn't come on until I was half way home :-p
