Actually used some info from SubieSport Mag...

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm still a "carb guy" but I actually used some info from SubieSport :)

I've been having some rich idle issues with my '97 Turbo Outback, and in the last SubieSport, they had the conclusion of the Hell's Legacy build ('97 LGT sedan)

and they mentioned they were having issues with too much fuel at idle, and the advice they had recieved from a couple of places was that perhaps the MAF was too close to the turbo. Because of the upgraded turbo moving more air at idle causing quite a bit of turbulence, the MAF was signaling for more fuel, but the throttle plates weren't open to let the air through... moving the MAF away helped them....

so since I have the EJ22T intake tube off the turbo, right to the MAF basically, I bought a jinky aftermarket tube kit, and added about 20-25" of tube between the MAF and Turbo... it's routed horribly, and probably causes other airflow issues, but it seems to have helped with the idling....

I still need to get the left front knuckle replaced, then it'll be back in action...
