Mike Kamm
I saw a very small Subaru on the highway the other day and can't remember what the model was. It was the size of a Festiva [maybe even smaller] but was not a hatchback. I would guess it was from the early 90's or so. Anyone know what it was? It looked like it would get killer gas mileage! Jerry DeMoss
A justy?
idosubaru
the only thing remotely close is a justy - so i would think that has to be it. although those are hatchbacks - maybe you just didn't notice?
nipper
Justies were 3 doors and 5 doors, about the same size, but never a notchback. Tercels (toyo) were notchbacks. nipper
Durania
Justy. Didn't even get a boxer motor.

Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Maybe the Three door Coupé? Edited August 30, 2014 by Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Keiji22
Maybe the Loyale base model? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/20/Subaru-GL10.jpg/800px-Subaru-GL10.jpg
Andy FitzGibbon
Loyale base model? No such thing- there were Loyale sedans and Loyale wagons, and that was it. There were only a few options and no "base" or upscale models, to my knowlege. Andy
zukiru
if it Wasn`t a Hatchback, Could it was a Sambar Bus / MiniTruck, isn`t it? you can't make those street legal stateside, last time I checked...
MSSLGECKO
you can't make those street legal stateside, last time I checked... You can register them in Montana as an ATV (which are road legal here).
Mike Kamm
Hi guys, Thanks for the replies. This had me baffled for a while, but after asking the same question on the NASIOC forum, I realized it must not have been a Subaru. Check the thread out HERE. After all of the guesses, it helped me narrow it down. Anyway, this was the car in question: Anyone know who made these?

WagonsOnly
Most if not all of them were. They were only out for a couple of years in the mid-'90s, and they didn't sell too well (how many people do you know that want to buy a two-door sporty SUV with a removable roof and a trunk?) They were based on the Vitara/Tracker/Sidekick platform. I'd like to own one...someday...it'd look good next to my Metro convertible
nipper
Here in NY they are chick cars. I think they only sold one in the entire state, as thats all i ever see. nipper
Bucky92
I have always found them to be pretty much...butt ugly..But we all have an opinion..And I think its like nipper says...only 1 was sold in this area..There was a reason for it.:-\
WagonsOnly
But I like butt-ugly and I don't mind driving chick cars (hence a yellow New Beetle and a yellow Geo Metro ragtop). I want a Yugo Cabrio someday too. (Also...if I'm remembering correctly, most X-90s came in purple, royal blue, and pastel metallic paints.)
