adwolf1
The drivers-side low beam burned out on my 2003 legacy. What is the proper OEM replacement bulb that matches the other side? Should i just go in and preemptively replace both sides? Hopefully autozone will have the proper replacements in stock. thanks!

I've seen them used on fog lights before... I would do both, not a real big hassle, but at least get the 2nd bulb, cuz, you know it'll blow next week on ya... I was told at Advance Auto Parts (Parts America) that it was a dealer only bulb... LIE. Went to NAPA, they had several in stock, for under 10 bucks. Just in case the "boys" at AZ tell you the same story...
Rooster2
The headlight bulb will have a part number printed on the base of the bulb, so it is easy to match numbers to purchase the correct bulb. I did that recently on my 99 Subie. Also, when replacing the bulb, don't touch the bulb glass envelope, as oil from your fingers will cause hot spots on the bulb, and the bulb to have a shorter life span. I always use rubbing alcohol on a kleenex to clean the glass envelope on any new bulb before replacement just to make sure that the glass is super clean. axel
Your Sube's owner's manual(you still have it, don't you?) should list all the bulbs you need for your car. You can access it online here:http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/search.jsp?publication_type=2. You'll have to register with your Sube's V.I.N. first. 2X2KOB
Should be an H1 bub. Not a dealer only item, for sure. Yes get two.
Flowmastered87GL
I just let the dealer do it. Its like $7.99 I think? (maybe 12.99) for the bulb and they put it in free and guarantee it for a year Since I drive with my lights on 24/7 its nice.
