torxxx
Anyone mount the subaru spoiler that came on the 80's series wagons? I picked one up today but I didnt measure where it was screwed into in relation to the top of the back hatch. so I'm looking for either how much the spoiler is supposed to stick up from the top of the cab, or measurements for drilling the holes..... Thanks..

torxxx
This is the one I'm gonna go with.. http://groups.msn.com/USMB/hatchpatroltreerun2003.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1083 I spray canned the spoiler metallic blue.. it looks sweet... think I'ma do all the black and chrome trim with that metallic blue.. I will post a pic of it tommorow night when the magic happens.. So in that pic, that looks like it sticks up about 3/4 of an inch from the top of the hatch dont it? MaroonDuneDoom
i suggest going to a hardware specific part store and asking about (can't remember the name) a type of nut/bolt/screw something combo. they are made for anchoring things into sheet metal. the guy at the counter will be able to help without a doubt. was the donor an ea82? if so, it will be pretty easy to mount. definitely mount it on the hatch. i had a wild hair up my rump roast and decided to get some input o mounting elsewhere. on second thought i realized hat the best looking and only place it will actually function is on the top of the hatch. all you need to do is center it laterally and screw it in. on the bottom of the "feet" it is curved to fit thehatch. just make the curve fit and screw it in. i haven't mounted mine yet because 3 of the 4 screws that hold the wing on are broken at the head and stuck in the "feet". i plan on dremeling the feet so they will fit an ea82 then drillig through the existing crews and just put a long bolt through all of it and the car, bolting it at the end. post pics when done if you can. torxxx
alright I got some good sheet metal screws and when I took the spoiler off the donor, I pulled on it first to see if it was loose.. Iwas held on pretty damn good.. If I can find a cordless drill to use today, I'ma get it on and I'll post a picture of it
MaroonDuneDoom
right on, that makes me inspired to get mine on. it's been sitting around for a month or so. i'm gonna paint it chrome or a metallic red. more than likely the chrome because i don't want the spoiler paint taking away from the rest of the car. i just need to drop my engine back in and hook it first. definitely post a pic when you're done. WagonsOnly
Try Tech screws on sheet metal. They just have standard hex heads.
