Blue Smoke Every Where!!!!

Recommended Posts

not sure how the EA81's work but if the intake gaskets have the coolant passages like the EA82's - then usually tons of coolant gets in there.

but BLUE definitely sounds like oil.

vaccuum, carb, PCV checking time i would think (EA81 and carb idiot that i am talking).

if it didn't do this before i wouldn't expect anything serious - just something mixed up. good luck!

Are you sure that it is blue smoke and not steam? Again, not doubting abilities or power of observation, some questions just need to get asked. Steam will dissipate quickly in still air, smoke thins out only if diluted with more air.

Does this occur while idling? Only during cruise? More so taking off from a stop after idling or after compression braking? Becomes thicker the more power you apply?

My crystal ball says to bet that it is steam, and that the intake manifold gaskets aren't sealing the intake's water passage properly. (Yes, GG, EA81 and EA82 non/mfpi gaskets are the same/similar.)

Lack of proper PCV routing is probably causing already poor valve stem seals to suck more oil than usual as you aren't actively pulling blow-by gasses from the crankcase as you should.

Valve cover breather filters are NOT a substitute for a system to remove blow-by gasses. Before PCV valves we had the road draft tube system.... just venting the valve covers is not adequate.

You see them on hot-rods..... but then those are the same folks that buy edelbrock carbs which are also an abomination.... don't emulate those guys.
