TheSubaruJunkie
I posted over at LegacyCentral and a member over there said the Astoria fairgrounds does not have tables in the camping area, and are not allowing any fires either. http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=36921 Is this true? I am packing extremely light and was not planning on bringing a camp stove. I thought for sure they would have BBQ pits or something. Im also shocked to hear there will be no seating. Are these campsites like Hood River where its pretty much an open lawn?
TheSubaruJunkie
Well, nevermind. Alittle google work and I think i answered my own question. Nothing found at the website for the Clatsop County Fairgrounds. But I did find this site: http://www.crosscrusade.com/flyers/2007/october_28.html And taken from this site: CampingFrom the Fairgrounds Director: We have some available motor home or camper spaces available. We also have a place where we can allow tent camping. It depends on the layout of the course. I don't want to put the campers in the middle of where you might want to run the race. We have showers and bathrooms available for their use. We have about 40 RV spaces. with water and electricity (We do not have a tank dump area). $25/night. Our tent camping space is a big field. Number of spaces is hard to say. Basically people would park their cars and set up there tents by their cars. Cost is $10/night
Turbone
Your welcome to use my camp stove, we will have more than one. We will have tables setup and should have plenty of chairs to sit on also.

TeamCF
Heh, you can borrow my turbo hehe that'll do it. Nice hot turbo cooking. Almost bought an auto cookbook. Had recipes and where to put them on the engine and how long of a drive to cook them. Never got it, but for heating things up I know of a couple spots on my EA81 that would hold a nice little packet of food.

Are these campsites like Hood River where its pretty much an open lawn? Why not ask the people who really know? No BBQ pits. No tables. There will be a large group fire pit which we have to build (could use some volunteers for this). Wood will be provided by WCSS. They are letting us have the pit but we are responsible for it. Just throw a compact or collapsable lawn chair in the trunk.
TheSubaruJunkie
Why not ask the people who really know? Thats why I posted up over here. Dave (NV Zeno) will be bringing a canopy for shade and he told me we gotta gather a couple picnic tables to place under it. So maybe if we share some shade, rob you can share some seating?? I have one camping chair that folds up, but is horribly uncomfortable. Would love to help with the fire pit.

And 2 cases of chocolate bars from work (Free) But I dont have enough graham crackers and marshmallows to make smores for everyone

I think we are going to have a picnic table with us, and I have a fold up for food etc. Could always use the shade. My canopy bit the dust earlier this year. Yes, defiantly bring a shovel. Are we going to need rocks for the pit, to make a ring around it? Might be able to find those locally, dont want to add that to the loads we already have. I have one camping chair that folds up, but is horribly uncomfortable. Would love to help with the fire pit. No problem. I am not aware of any picnic tables. There may be some but I do not remember seeing them. Good, we will need help setting the pit up. Thanks!! Should I bring my shovel? They think they have enough cinder to make a pit. If not there is a hardware store in town to buy enough. Do not bring rocks from home. Thanks for the help. ShawnW
I saw a couple in the fire on Saturday night. I still dont know what you are talking about. I truly dont remember seeing one being flipped end over into the flame by some drunken fool and wondering if I was about to have a cloud of heat in my face and other unmentionable areas. In the end safety prevailed but holy - dont let a drunk toss wood in that thing anymore. Oh well it would have made for a killer rump roast whooping.
