cobcob
I was running 185's on mine but the ORIGINAL size was 175 (check the plate inside the driver's door) Now running 205/60r14's
ihscout54
I was sure it said 185... got tires recently, And I wanted 185/80's but I had trouble finding them anywhere so I settled on (what I thought was) stock. Maybe we are both right. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/specs/general/1983brat.html -Sam
Spiffy
I think the GL had the 185 and the DL the 175... at least that's the way it was with the ea82/loyale... my gen2 GL wagon is 185... --Spiffy
Phizinza
I think pre 83 or 82 it was 165/75R13's and after that it was 175/70R13's. Both are very close to the same OD and make the speedo work correctly.

Both are very close to the same OD and make the speedo work correctly. the tire size calculator says it's a 2.4% difference between 175 and 185, so 4.8% from 165 to 185... so yeah, not really enough to notice on an analog gauge if you use 175's... --Spiffy
ihscout54
Checked the door jamb plate... Definately 185/70's -Sam

ihscout54
1982 brat GL has some opts. w a/c. My wagon as well calls for 185's. The upgrade to gl must have also included an upgrade in tire size and possibly brand quality.
Phizinza
the tire size calculator says it's a 2.4% difference between 175 and 185, so 4.8% from 165 to 185... so yeah, not really enough to notice on an analog gauge if you use 175's... --Spiffy What your missing is its 165/75 and 175/70... theres a .4% difference. And most speedos can be out by up to 5% out of the factory And thats not even taking into consideration that most tires are different by up to 5% as well. I think it was Zap that posted a picture of 5? different 27" OD tires which varied in almost 2" OD size.
