I am thinking of buying a 1990 legacy L AWD.How well do you think it would do with the rear diff welded up?or would the AWD and welded diff not play well with each other...

also can 26" tires fit without cutting the body?

I have no experience with it but I would imagine your center diff would have a lot of pressure put on it with the car trying to always just spin a front tire. Which in my experience is the last place you want to put traction when going up a bumpy slope.

LSD or convert to 4WD I reckon.

I would think that the AWD would proly kinda freak on the welded diff.

As for the tires.

The ones I have on my 83 GL with no lift are 26". they rub only a tad when the inside tire is is stuffed all the way in a turn on trails.

Couple bumps with a BFH in the right places and 27" would be no problem on mine.

Not sure how the Leg and GL wheelwells compare, but I would think you should have more room than me for those tires as mine was designed for 13's.
