What is the best way to get some oil circulating so I can prevent a dry start. I am thinking I should not just start cranking it. Any ideas? davebugs Posted November 14, 2008 Share Posted November 14, 2008 I fill the filter, a couple times it keeps sucking it up. Unplug the coil pack (why do 4 wires and possibly have that spark jumping around when you can eliminate the spark?). Crank a few times for a few seconds (helps with fuel pressure as well). Crank until the oil light goes off, or about 1 minute. The starter will take it. Heck, with a broken timing belt and some tape on the clutch switch, you can drive 'em around with the starter! msmithmmx Posted November 15, 2008 Author Share Posted November 15, 2008 Ok, Its done.. It started up and runs..... BUT, I have a VERY noisy Lifter, its clicking REAL bad. It has Hydraulic lifters. Run it for awhile it should get better. Could also try draining a qt. of oil and replacing it with qt of K-1 run it 10 15 min. Change the oil / filter.
