Quidam
I have shot them, I've never "played" the game. I'm thinking off road, paint ball, while driving Subarus. Doug
frompkin
I'm thinking off road, paint ball, while driving Subarus. Doug Been there, done that. Totaled several junkers that way (non-subaru). We used to call it death race, and honestly we were lucky no one died. We did end up with an Audi parked wheels up next to a logging road at one point. TeamCF
I used to. Kinda got out of it when it got into too much of the "speedball" type stuff. And more and more rules and kept making us turn our guns further and further down. I always preferred pumps. And sniper type stuff. Could go all day sitting in the mud hidden waiting for a enemy patrol to come by. We'd pop up behind them and wipe 'em out. Even got to play against the MI State Troopers a few times. (they would come out the the field for "training" wanted to see how they did against the unknown civilian element) They hated our group. We always took them out with our dirty warfare. We used to go out and do more of a war simulation type thing. Once the fields got to into the new "how much paint can you spray" fads we all stopped going. Played at my uncles for awhile then a few too many peeps kinda moved on. Still got my old Tracer Deluxe and VM-68 though. Lost my mask in a move and outgrew my fatigues though. SoobieKoralli
Subaru paintball tag sounds like fun, you would need one that body doesn't matter much. Those things DENT and hurt. I played on my little bro's 14th birthday, but that was quite a while ago. fun tho.

The Dude Abides
kinda new at this but is it really that power to dent door panels and break windows. cuz that would be fun.
cobcob
Yeah, you can turn the pressure on the guns up a ways... Also if you stick the balls in the freezer before hand they'll blow through a window... Not that you'd want to do that on a paintball field though... muchos ouchies! subyrally
trust me when i say that it would not at all be fun to get hit by a marker firing that fast. 300fps is the fastest you want to let it get. any faster and you run the risk of injury. i run my markers around 275-285. to dent a car door or break glass, you would have to be firing very "hot". like 350fpr-400fps+. at those velocites, you would also most likely crack lenses on paintball masks and break the skin on who ever you hit. paintball isnt about trying to hurt anyone, its a generally fun game of tag, if you want to think of it like that. i have been hit by markers firing hot, it hurts a lot, even with padding. hell, my gf got hit in the head by someone firing hot. that pissed me off since i had to calm her down aftewards. it was even worse when i told her that it was bleeding, she wanted to kill the guy that hit her. then again, dude also "bonus balled" her, in other words, he shot her after she was out and trying to leave the field. to people that play seriously, its kinda of a mission to try to get paintball in a better view to those who dont play it. as much fun as it would be to shoot signs and cars with paintball guns, it does nothing to improve the game's image, in fact, it really hurts it. if you are lookig to get started into paintball, go to www.pbnation.com and read up on what ever you might need to know, and remember, the search button is your friend. kinda new at this but is it really that power to dent door panels and break windows. cuz that would be fun. and as for freezing the paint, it causes them to shrink and dimple. most paint currently available doesnt freeze anymore. old paint might freeze. if you ever get caught with frozen paint in the hopper or marker, you can be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon as well. thatswhatshesaid
I haven;t played in ages...dang that was fun back in the day...and freezing the balls is a bunch of hooey. The paint is oil-based! I've had paintballs in sub-0* weather for an all-day event and the paint was still totally liquid. Freezing them just makes the shell lose its structural integrity. Sidebar: as far as I know (and we tried it dozens of times), you will break balls in your gun WAY before they have enough velocity to break automotive glass... TeamCF
Yeah we always ran 275-300 f.p.s. Any more and you'll have a lot of breaks in the barrel. Eventually the field kept going down till they wanted you about 150 to 200. Had to keep all the soccermoms with thier kids happy. Sucked cause that was a good place. About 20 to 30 acres. They had bases with dug out tunnels. And even a few old military trucks and Jeeps for hauling your butt back into the battle after getting hit when they did the weekend long monster games. Had a gatling style paint gun on the top of one of them.
subyrally
wtf? 150fps? the balls might make it 15-20 feet and you would be lucky if they broke on contact. thats insane. but on better news, my local field is having a scenaro game on sunday. the last one was fun, this one should be fun as well. http://www.paintballwholesalers.com/index.cfm?method=news.news&newsID=175&supressLayout=1 www.paintballwholesalers.com check it out. TeamCF
Yeah we quit going to the field once paintball got too popular. The general public wanted it to be a family friendly game of tag. They took all the fun out of it. We wanted it to stay a war simulation. Only diff is the guns are not the same and you don't actually die. But we got over that detail. I even remember some guys had rubber knives with paint on them. Sneak up and slit other players throats. The paint grenades were cool too. The kind that actually had an explosive charge in them, the ballon kind were kinda lame. Toss one in through a window in the village they had set up and everyone hidding in the room was screwed. (Two more things they banned) Cool to see a field doing scenarios. I'm hoping the peeps show in fatigues and not those bright rump roast jerseys though. subyrally
i, for one, will be wearing camo bdu's, granted, its going to be urban camo. but it matches my mask (black and grey) and ill have a black combat helmet. ill have that special forces operator look about me. my friend, who will be one of the generals for the veitmanese team, will be wearing woodland digi camo bdu's with a green tactical helmet. i still wear paintball specific gear in addition to the bdu's. i wear empire knee pads and padded jersey(only because i have a huge scar on my chest) and for the arms, i have fox racing downhill elbowgaurds and i wear franklin batting gloves. i know woodsballers that play in full army dress and i know other woodsballers that play in full on pb tourney gear. it all really depends on the weather and what the player is the most comfortable in. before i got the bdu's, i played in cargo shorts, a t-shirt under my padded jersey, the arm and knee pads, and knee high hot topic combat boots. it worked all summer, so i see no reason that i wont go back to that in the spring. the only complaint i had was that the boots were crap for running. to me, it doesnt matter what the player is wearing, as long as they play well and clean. ill play with anyone, no matter how they are dressed, as long as they dont cheat or treat others poorly. then again, i am type of player that will call myself out even if no one ese knows i got hit. i also am the first to volunteer to help first timers.
