vtsuby
1992 Loyale No LCD Light on ECU Computer No Spark, checked the timing belts, both seem good! -- the rotor still turns! When u turn the key, Car turns over but there is only the charge light & Brake fluid light! (no oil light or Check engine light) went and looked at the LCD on ECU computer and there is NO light flashing on the computer at all??? checked all the fuses... Cleaned the grounds, then noticed the lights missing on startup!??? My good 94 loyale has all four lights on startup, (oil, charge, brake Chk Engine) also the computer flashes 5 times quick with no problems...(check engine light is off) What next? Check for power to computer? what wire is it? any ideaS??? Thanks in advance! vt suby
Cougar
The oil pressure light is supplied power through fuse 12 and if that fuse was bad there would be a lot of things not working. The light may be bad so check it. By grounding the other lead to the bulb it should light up. The ECU light may be bad also. The ECU controls the ground for that lamp and the circuit inside the ECU sometimes goes bad. If the ECU wasn't getting power the engine wouldn't run. nvexplorer
could also be a fusible link. I fried one randomly years ago and had to replace it. IIRC they are on the drivers side fender under the hood.
Cougar
DOH! I missed seeing the no spark issue the first time. I suggest you look at the ignition relay. It may be on the right side of the steering column. It may be in a brown socket. You may get some results just taoping on it with a screwdriver handle. Check to see if the white wires have voltage on them when the ignition switch is ON. I think you will find this to be the trouble.

Thanks in advance! vt suby I pulled this off of a EA82 service Manual My CEL wouldn't light up either after i checked ground / power it ended up being ECU, cause when i pulled ECU out, someone had apparently wrote "bad light" "driver Runs" on the box, once ECU was replaced it fixed it. the whole manual is here somewhere, the post where they converted carb to FI, i believe is where i got that from. vtsuby
U Folks at USMB are AWESOME! Thank You! "Cougar" "seatern" & "NVExplorer" for all of your Ideas, HELP & Replies! The ECU was the culprit! A diode was rolling around in the original when i took it out you could hear it! I tried soldering it back in, but that didn't work...still no light on the ECU! I had a spare in the back yard from an 89GL, pulled the ignition relay & comp(ECU) from it and put both in the car, Check Engine light immediately came on! put the original ignition relay back in...! Lights,noCodes,ACTION! The ECU flashes the 5 short times, just like my good 94loyale... With no stored Codes! Turned the Key! Old SUBARU Loyale fired Right UP!!! SUPER! Little Chilly Today! It is only about 30 degrees in VT. (Warm for Alaska!!!!) & the car was outside! So I was very happy to have a Quick Fix! I Knew she would run again!!!! Gracious! Danke! Thanks!
