Dickensheets
97OBW 135,000 miles Autozone read and cleared the code. Didn't come back on drive home. Anyone have this symptom?
subaru360
97OBW 135,000 miles Autozone read and cleared the code. Didn't come back on drive home. Anyone have this symptom? That code is known to come and go. The sensors crack. They get water in them when it's damp out and set a code. It's common.
Dickensheets
Good answer - I'm gonna give it 6 months to fix itsself.
subaru360
If you are cheap, pull the sensor out and fill in all the cracks with RTV. Sometimes it works.
thatswhatshesaid
If you have only driven it a little bit since clearing the code, it could very well come back...my knock sensor code did.
Gloyale
Gasoline is reformulated all the time, espescially before winter. Iv'e seen this code thrown by a random tank of gas. Seems like once the ECU *relearns* for the new formulation it may stay gone. Of course it may be that the sensor is bad. It's super easy to replace. One plug dangling off a ground post. Mega-simple.
JT95
I replaced this on my 95 Legacy a couple months ago and it was super easy. I bought my sensor from O'Reiley's and it was $30 cheaper than either Autozone or Advance, if you r interested in non-factory replacement.

I bought my sensor from O'Reiley's and it was $30 cheaper than either Autozone or Advance, if you r interested in non-factory replacement. The part for mine was something like $95 at Autozone. I snagged one at our salvage yard (where they pull it for you) for $37. They even guaranteed it. Come to think of it, I have an extra lying around somewhere that had the wrong plug shape on the end. If you end up needing the sensor, let me know. If the plug fits yours, I'll hook you up for way cheaper then the 'zone or NAPA!
Dickensheets
Thanks guys. But the code has not resurfaced. Fingers crossed.
Dickensheets
So I lied. The code is back. I will visit the "yard" manana. If I don't find one I will spring for a new one I think. thatswhatshwsaid: what does the connector look like. What year is it from?
thatswhatshesaid
I'll try to hunt it down to take a picture. The variations over the years were minimal, but it WILL bar you from fitting the wrong-shaped plug into your connector.
