cobcob Posted November 19, 2008 Share Posted November 19, 2008 could have shorted internally... or the VR is shot. Check your voltage at the battery with the engine running. Rev the engine up and see if the voltage goes over 14.7 (nominal VR setting) if it keeps rising then your problem is there. zyewdall Posted November 20, 2008 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Yeah -- measure your voltage -- if it's below 13.5 or so replace the alt -- I bet the alternator is not charging for some reason, as this is the classic display you see when it fails. quicsam Posted November 20, 2008 Author Share Posted November 20, 2008 Thanks cobcob...all dash lights are back to the out position. Alternator VR was out. Quicsam Still have Check engine light. Disconnected battery to clear CE light. I get no long flash an 1 short flash. Haynes manual said it is Designation codes MPFI systems code 01 (MT, 49 States and Canada vehicle.)
