subyrally
i am trying to get a set of impreza seats into my brat, do the sliders come off of the imprez seats at all? i havent really been able to get into and kind of detailed investigation with the seats i have, but i couldnt find anyway of removing the brackets and sliders form em. on top of that, i would still need to modify the brackets to fit into the brat and i might have to relocate one of the driver side mounts since i think the captive nut that you thread the bolt into has broken loose from when i put in the last set of seats. any tips or tricks to getting impreza seats to fit into a brat? s'ko
i put obs seats into my BRAT. the inner front mounting point i used the existing hole. i then welded an extending tab for the front outer and then drilled a hole to work with the existing hole. with the front secured, i noticed that the rear is not close to anything stock. i took drilled a hole into the tranny tunnel where the rear mounting tab was. i then used a large fender washer and a 10mm bolt to secure that part. for the outer rear i noticed that there was a big gap between the rail and the floor pan. i drilled a hole in the rear floor pan and used a piece of square tubing as a spacer. secured it with 10mm bolt and large spacers. overall impressions is that it sits kinda high. if i had to do it again. i would try the stock EA81 rails. bw
kingbobdole
I put '03 vdc legacy outback seats into my 87 ea82 wagon. Front bolted up well, but like the last guy I had to make the rear work a little on the inside... Mine sit a bit higher, but not by much... I think it is simply the thickness of the butt cushion. Turbone
I installed Legacy seats in my last Brat. It was a while ago, so its a little hard to remember it all exactly (CRS). I believe theres a inch difference between the track widths. I cant remember if the seat rail was narrow or wide tho. But I removed the tracks from both seats and installed the EA81 rails onto the Lego seat bottom. To get the rails off the Lego can be a pita, it took some drilling to get some spot welds off. Then I made up a couple of spacers and used them on the outer rail. When installed I noticed that the seats had a recline to it. It can be adjusted with shims, but I left them as is. subyrally
well, i guess ill be finding out in the next few weeks. i need to get seats that actually stay upright into the brat. the tenzoR seats i have in it have broken recline levers, you have to forcable push the levers back down to lock the seats, but the first time you push the seats forward, even slightly, they unlock and spring forward. i think i might start with the seats next weekend, maybe sooner, gotta love having turkeyday off. i also have to get into it and figure out the wiring for swapping in an ea82t since my friend should be bringing me the engine and drivetrain from my rx. it will be nice to have a 5speed trans and turbo again:grin: I installed Legacy seats in my last Brat. Caboobaroo
I have '05 STi seats in my RX. I took the stock EA82 seat rails and made tabs that I welded to the rails that bolt to the seats that make the seats bolt into the car. The gen1/gen2/gen3 cars have seats that have the bolts run vertical through the rails into the seats where the EJ stuff have the bolts horizontal into the seat. I made tabs that were welded to the EA82 rails and drilled so the bolts ran through the tabs into the seats. Took about 7 hours total but it was well worth it. Caboobaroo
do you have an pics of the brackets you had to make for that? Eh kind of. I took a couple pics after I installed the seats. Its pretty straight forward though. You can kind of see it in this pic. One of the new tabs are on the left side of the pic http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2554267860067339125VxeCFL
